A new series of partitioning and doors, a feature of the S4C head office in Cardiff, Wales

A demand for a cultural change within the working environment at S4C led to a dramatic and stylish refurbishment with Avanti partitioning systems specified throughout.

The Welsh language broadcaster appointed Witchell Associates to move the interior design from a largely cellular regime to open plan to encourage an exchange of ideas between business groups, with additional meeting and social spaces forming an important part of the overall business strategy.

To provide practical meeting spaces Witchell Associates specified Avanti Solare frameless double glazed walls with flush double glazed doors to stunning effect. Adhering to performance requirements, the partitioning systems provide a simple yet contemporary solution for a number of meeting spaces and directors’ rooms. The doors complement the visual appearance and acoustic performance of the double glazed partitioning.

Solare is a fully glazed frameless partitioning system combining a minimalistic and aesthetically appealing appearance with high levels of performance in terms of both sound and fire resistance.

Alan Berrow at Stroud Office Interiors comments: “We’ve found the installation of the double glazed Solare and flush glazed doors was straightforward for this project. It was installed in two phases with the frameworks taking about three weeks.”

The S4C project in Cardiff was completed in December 2008.
